National Postal Museum

On November 11, 1958, a very precious package was delivered to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History by the postal carrier James G. Todd. Inside the humble brown package was the Hope Diamond. Harry Winston, who trusted registered mail to deliver many of his precious gems around the world, had mailed the package to the museum, and insured it for $145.29, just in case.

You can now see the envelope at the National Postal Museum, along with hundreds of other artifacts that illustrate the formidable history of the country’s oldest and most recognizable government service. We worked with the Postal Museum to create a fully responsive website in order to share these stories with a wider audience and showcase the vast array of stamps and artifacts associated with the service. Visitors can access a wealth of content through an intuitive and engaging interface, and connect with the museum through various social media channels. The design of the website is friendly and bright, effectively showcasing the museum as a vibrant, family-friendly destination as it re-opened in fall 2013.
